Lithospermum incisum, a stoneseed species. A cluster of simple flowers, five fused petals surrounding a tube protecting the reproductive parts. Short lanceolate silvery-grey leaves with short silver hairs on them. Blurry background greys and browns.
Micranthes ferruginea. The tiny tiny flowers of this saxifrage are like a mid-mod design. Each of five petals is like a pointy spoon joined to the flower by the handle, and has a yellow dot in the middle. The stamens are white with tiny red pollen pollen sacs at the ends. These flowers are arranged on a complicated branching raceme.
Phacelia hastata, silverleaf phacelia. The flowers grow in a beautiful spiral structure, starting with the largest ones opening at the one end and curling in around the youngest ones at the other end, buds gradated successively smaller until all you see are green calyxes. The whole is clothed in silver hairs. The open flowers are trumpet shaped, white, with protruding sexual parts.
Phacelia hastata, silverleaf phacelia. Another flower stem, this with an ant for scale.
Spring flowers, BC.
