Pax, the French bulldog, is in his fancy three-wheeled stroller. He's looking straight ahead, leaning with both front paws on the edge of the stroller's basket. This is actually a piece of a larger illustration from the illustrated children's book, Mighty Pax's Misadventures: The Big Booboo (which depicts the whole scary event of his losing the use of his hind legs, and his slow recovery after surgery).

Pax has his own royal carriage. An absolute necessity when going on longer walks, ever since he had to be operated on for a herniated disk (which had made him lose the use of his hind legs!).

He's wearing a brand new collar with a tag in the form of a bone, on which his name is written: PAX. He's staring down, looking scared, at his looooooong shadow, petrified.

The first time we took Pax out on a walk as a pup, he suddenly stopped moving and just wouldn't budge anymore...because he'd seen his shadow and was scared of it!

He has no issues with it now--in fact, shadows fear him 😉

It's historically classified, so even though it's housing tons of wildlife, including rats, it can't be torn down. Which is part of the reason I love it :)

One upon a time, in a park close to what will be the setting for my haunted house... ...within an enclosed space, the gate broken down, in patch of overgrown weeds and grass... ... stands an ancient tree. Many of its limbs have been sawed off. The others no longer bear leaves. Yet it remains standing, proud, a refuge for any creature who needs sanctuary in the bustling city.

Went on a recce for my next Pax book which I hope to publish prior to Halloween (🍀), and it's just so perfect that this beast of a tree is nearby the "shooting location"😊

Sketching for the illustration of a page for my children's book: Might Pax's Misadventures: The Big Booboo." The text reads: The kind Doctor Fontaine helped Pax fall asleep for the person. "When you wake up, you will feel better," the vet said. Below, in a small inset, the chosen thumbnail showed Pax starting up at a younger vet. The actual, very rough sketch, has a friendly, bearded doctor who looks a little like Santa Claus, holding Pax, the French bulldog, on one of his arms.

Same as the previous picture, but the sketching is getting cleaner. It's easier to see Pax is worried.

A little bts from when I worked on The Big Booboo. Insert on the first image: initial chosen thumbprint. But as I progressed through the illustration, I thought it looked too similar to a prev illustration. So I changed it up.

Me, kneeling behind my French bulldog Pax, my chin on his head, and we are both staring straight ahead. Me at the camera he at...I honestly don't know 😅 but we are both sorta smiling! The sky is the bright blue of a warm spring. Some trees can be seen growing overhead, though their branches are still naked, unlike the vines creeping up their trunks.

I'm sitting cross-legged on a large round patio chair, writing laptop on my lap (with a digital sticker on the screen to hide what I'm currently worrying, which reads: Inspiration, and has a little birdie on it). Sprawled behind, though he's mostly hidden, is Pax, my French bulldog. But all you can see are his hind legs, stretched out behind him, his itty biddy tail and the very tips of his ears. We're in the shade, but it's sunny and warm outside, sunlight reflecting off the lake's cool waters in front of us.
