Our most recent milestone was BIG, not mini - we relocated from Walthamstow to Chingford in 2024! From our former home, here's Walthamstow's Markhouse Road milestone, photographed in Vestry House Museum's garden. 📷 ©VH Museum, from collection available in our Searchroom. #MiniMilestones #Archive30
The Archives has a set of Chinese calligraphy scrolls donated by the artists after a Museum of Nebraska Art exhibit. Laurinda wrote a finding aid for them when they were in a temp position in the early 2010s. We've finally rehoused them in scroll boxes! #MiniMilestones #Archive30

The School of Engineering's Marine Technology Special Collection was transferred to us last year, and a mini milestone in our work in developing the collection is digitisation of these photos of ship's built at Wm Armstrong's Elswick shipyard on the Tyne.
When it comes to celebrating #MiniMilestones, it’s important that we give a shout out to our volunteers for all their hard work.
Over the last 12 months, our volunteers finished transcribing the St Sannans burial registers (1921 – 2001) & indexing articles in our journal collection...

Two years ago today we started our Digital Preservation project! A big part of this was finding out what we have: 768 digital storage formats, 406 of which we have now virus and format scanned, and identified 258 different file formats!

Jane cleaning a railway plan
Last year, we began a project to clean & re-package pre-1850 railway plans & reference books for Berkshire, made possible by a donation from one of our former volunteers. We have now progressed to the preservation of post-1850 plans & reference books! #Archive30 #MiniMilestones
What #minimilestones have you achieved recently, or is there something that you are working towards? #Archive30
#Archive30 #MiniMilestones One of our archive volunteers is cataloguing around 1000 botanical prints by James Sowerby, engraved by Sowerby and then hand-coloured by a specialist team in the early C19. She was excited to reach the 700th print! @arascot.bsky.social #Herbarium @lukaslarge.bsky.social

Assorted great aunts and families
My husband’s grandfather was ahead of his time in using an ordinary camera to record milestones in the family. These were some of several photos of his bombed house in Bootle. They never returned to it.
The Lusitania features in the story. A great uncle was a steward on the ship for several years. We have more photos and silk cards. Dan left just before it was sunk only to die in the merchant navy soon after.
My husband’s grandad was a keen artist. He sent several of these sketches in blue and orange crayon from the Front . I assume that’s all the tools he had, as he wrote on one of” this would have been better in watercolours’ We don’t have a single painting! Such a shame.
My #FamilyHistory blog has reached 38,000 hits!

At present a lot of our volunteers are working on indexing our school admission registers up to 1924. We are hoping to have them all indexed and ready to go online later this year. (This is a detail from the Tay Street Admissions Register)
