Peat bog WMA, just off I-35 between Lonsdale and Northfield
Not my most lucrative #minnesotabirding adventure, but still quite the view!
The new Cedar ave. Bridge
Boardwalk through the wetlands around the Minnesota River
Wood duck among reeds
Pile of mallards and wood ducks atop a beaver dam, alongside a very sneaking Sora possibly visible in the picture
Went out to the old Cedar ave bridge, considered one of the best spots for #minnesotabirding
Tree swallow pics seem to be the big thing this time of year- if I had a better camera this one posing at Lake Byllesby would’ve been envious

In case you’ve ever wondered why they’re called “Catbirds!”

Not the greatest picture, but nevertheless have a silhouette of a medowlark

Male pileated woodpecker throwing wood chips from its home.
Caught this little contractor mid-reno. 🛠️
He gave me the side-eye, flung a few wood chips for effect, then got back to business.

Think this is my first fully sighted rarity! yellow-headed blackbird at the Minnesota River wildlife refuge- didn’t even show up as an option on Merlin.
