Up close photo of a wild lupine. Smaller than garden lupines and always in a clear light purple color, they have fuzzy stems and leaves, almost velvety, and in this stark environment of dry grass and sage, they stand out like fireworks.
Photo of a wide and fully blooming wild lupine growing in the dirt tire rut on an old farm road going from the creek valley up on top into the hills. In the background the grass and sage and farther still the wheat fields and blue sky.
Just a shot of the old road going up the hill to the wheat field, largely grown over with the weeds and such that grown in this high desert environment. lots of blue sky above, and if you look close, the lupines blooming here and there.
Lupines are in bloom up the hill. Cuz of rotten old pneumonia I've not been up this trail in a month, but I was rewarded for my effort with the landscape. If the lupines are in bloom that also means the Mormon crickets are out, singin their crappy song of destruction #lupines #hiking #MormonCrickets
