A Muskrat with dark brown fur and a black tail coming out of the light brown, dried brush next to one of the ponds at Great Meadows National Wildlife Refuge in Concord, Massachusetts. The Muskrat, which is a semi-aquatic rodent, is usually active at dawn or dusk, but this one was out in the middle of the day.
This was a surprise, daytime sighting -- a Muskrat coming out of the brush next to a pond, then trotting down the trail! Sorry, not sorry for the #MuskratLove ear worm! (Concord, MA - 3/26/26) 😁🎶🤎
