1 pm, clear and bright #CBJuneau
Sun is streaming high in the forest, a pleasant change from the chilly overcast of the last few days. Snow drifts are shrinking and on a few slopes Iʼm seeing moss or crocus sprouts!

noon Apr 3, steady precipitation making the porch wet, It looks like big drops or even flakes as it falls 35F here; NWS calls it snow/rain in the forecast. Iʼm hoping that the temperature means weʼll get more rain so that the path and drive lose their icy packed snow. #MyAlaskaWx #CBJuneau

4:15 pm: 34F, medium snow
We were shovelling the 5 inches from the last day or so, and during our hour, another half inch fell.

Weʼve heard that at least one food truck is iced into its winter spot for at least another three weeks. Plows did not keep up even on busy downtown streets yesterday […]

noon Mar 5, near Juneau, above freezing so snow on deck rails has fallen as has much of the snow on the trees. Workout Report: third day in a row of shovelling path and parking pad. Today was shorter time, much wetter heavier snow. Forecast is for the slush that is falling to turn to rain […]

Noon, mar 3, near Juneau, about 20 F, snow sifting down…as is becoming familiar, we’ll be shovelling snow down to the car, then brushing snow off the car and shovelling that, with the intention of going to fetch groceries eventually.

Normal people are fighting to protect the ice caps. Governments AND CORPORATIONS are making plans for after they are gone.

We are not the same. #MyAlaskaWx

Morning road reports are bad. Im hearing the Sterling is closed headed south due to semi accident.
Neighbor reported it took over an hour to drive the 17 miles (25 min, usually) of Funny River Rd to Soldotna.

Monday 4 pm Steady rain and 42 F #CBJuneau #MyAlaskaWx
the berm at the entrance of the drive is not melting away, the snow on the roof has mostly slid off (just some of the ridgeline is still there) Avalanche Hazard is high (with concern for effects of this rainy storm).

9:00 pm in forest (not avalanche hazard area) #CBJuneau 40 F, and the brackets holding up the gutters are straining and popping as the snow starts to shift. We’re okay with not driving through puddles. #MyAlaskaWx

Juneau Tuesday noon.
Yes, still snowing here

I estimate that since Monday afternoon we’ve had another 8 inches here (when I go out to shovel I’ll check the depth) by the number of steps covered)
City offices announced they’d be open at noon

How long have you lived in Alaska? Have you lived/worked in more than one region? What was the weather like your first few winters?

Im curious. #AlaskaSky #MyAlaskaWx

Sheltered by forest and tucked into a hill some miles away from the glacier, our temp 14 F at 7:30 pm and wind not noticeable (exept for electric power transients) Happy to have a good woodstove and firewood on the porch. #MyAlaskaWx

29°F and overcast with a light south breeze on Keystone Ridge at 9 am. Although not our first flakiness this season this is our first accumulation, about 1” of wet clumpy snow overnight brightening a moonless night. As if on cue, about 60 tundra swan pass over flying southeast. #myalaskawx

Summery day. I cut back the salmon berry branches that were overhanging the driveway. Did stop pruning long enough to harvest blueberries (both dark almost black ones and dusty blue ones) Next step will be to clip the blueberry branches and haul all the slash into the "compost" heap deep in the […]
