The start of NAMI Walks, the National Alliance for Mental Illness
A dear friend lost his nephew to the disease just a few days earlier. I walked for him and for 2 of my family members.
The start of the line begins to circle around the park.
A decent photo of me before the walk to replace a tired, sweaty photo of me after the walk bc people are nitpicky and judgemental about things that have no impact on their lives yet they choose to act as though it does anyway.
Last weekend I participated in #NAMIWalks to bring awareness to mental health support and resources. Nevada ranks last 😑 Ask me how I know.
It's vital that we recondition ourselves to see mental health as a medical disease, not a character flaw. Powering thru is not a substitute for treatment.
