It’s #NarwhalDay! Narwhals have been called the “unicorns of the sea” but they are actually toothed whales closely related to Belugas & while researchers are still not sure of the purpose of their elongated tooth there are quite a few theories. (personally, we're fans of this one 😂)

A #narwhal tusk is the upper L canine tooth that grows through the lip. Sometimes the R one does too, resulting in a 2-tusked narwhal, as illustrated by English naturalist George Shaw in 1806 & 1809:
