It’s #NarwhalDay! Narwhals have been called the “unicorns of the sea” but they are actually toothed whales closely related to Belugas & while researchers are still not sure of the purpose of their elongated tooth there are quite a few theories. (personally, we're fans of this one 😂)

Happy #NarwhalDay. Love Narwhals and Belugas. 🩵
Apparently today is #narwhalday. Why wasn't I told earlier?
official auction photo, embroidered wall hanging depicting Sedna, Inuit goddess of the sea and its creatures, riding atop a narwhal. Sedna’s figure is entire draped in white fur that only suggests her mermaid form, with narwhal depicted in simple but natural grey form with speckled body and offwhite tusk, swimming downward against pale pale blue background of base fabric. Ornamental blue and green floral inner border and simple stitched outer border; overall oval shape with concave cutouts on top and bottom edges.

Happy #NarwhalDay!
A #narwhal tusk is the upper L canine tooth that grows through the lip. Sometimes the R one does too, resulting in a 2-tusked narwhal, as illustrated by English naturalist George Shaw in 1806 & 1809:
