A little predictable but overall pretty competent and a decent watch.

Another weekend, so another series of movies for my husband and I to enjoy.

First up, Street Fighter (1994).

A fun, campy and seemingly self-aware flurry of action, this was enjoyable but perhaps over-long, especially towards the end.

A touching and realistic film that gives a glimpse into life as highschoolers in the late 70s. Though my high school years were in the late 90s, not much had changed.

The Bay (2012)

A pretty decent mockumentary-style eco-horror movie about an environmental disaster. A few good jumpscares, and the found-footage feel fits nicely with the location and 4th of July setting.

She adopts a cute sloth, thinking it can become the new mascot and help her win, until a string of fatalities implicate the sloth as the main suspect in the murders.

A quick movie before getting ready to fly out for a conference.

"Slotherhouse" (2023)

This movie is quirky, zany, and flirts with the issue of illicit wildlife trafficking. It also features a murderous sloth terrorising a sorority house. What more could you want?

This film is very 80's, just a bit campy, and both wholesome and sweet. I'd completely forgotten that it had a musical aspect to it - with some great songs in there. Julie Brown's "Brand New Girl" was a very fun.

Overall, some silly and spooky holiday fun with a healthy dose of Aussie charm.

Equal parts poignant and hilarious, unsettling in how existential it is, I'll always be happy to sit down and watch this again and again.

Just a shame that the website felafel[dot]com advertised at the end of the credits no longer seems to load/go anywhere.
