What if we designed with an 8 year-old and an 80 year old in mind? That’s the question we ask every day. As #NationalAccessAbilityWeek ends, we are reflecting on how cities can be safe and inclusive for all.

Yesterday during #NationalAccessAbilityWeek #NAAW, we were honoured to welcome educator, author & advocate Fran O. for a thought-provoking training on Anti-Ablesim with Fife House staff & volunteers. A powerful reminder: #DisabilityJustice & #Inclusion is everyone's responsibility. Thank you, Fran!❤️

A quote from Ahmad, who is pictured in his transfer seat for a wheelchair adapted van. He says, "They changed my life. I couldn't use my car easily. They gave me transfer seat and lift for my wheelchair. I don't need anyone to help with my wheelchair anymore. I can use my car alone." It is also noted that this program is funded by the Government of Canada and the Province of British Columbia.

For 2M+ Canadians with fibromyalgia, accessibility includes invisible disabilities, like fatigue, pain & sensory issues.

Access means flexibility, inclusion & understanding that not all disabilities are visible. 💜

It’s @fcm.ca in Ottawa and #NationalAccessAbilityWeek. I can’t attend because we don’t have legislation that makes hotels or airlines or conferences have to be free of perfumes or essential oils. Disabled people do not have equity. We lack disability representation. @pattyhajdu.bsky.social
