A little girl in a white communion dress for #NationalChildsDay I was seven when I put on this lacy white dress for my First Communion and oblivious to the ways of the world. All I knew was I had a loving mom and dad, a doting Irish grandmother who made the best mashed potato pancakes, another grandmother who wore pearls and furs and danced in places where I wasn't allowed, and soft pretezels every day at St Vincent's during recess.
