It’s #NationalEpilepsyWeek and I was delighted to meet up with representatives in @ukparliament.parliament.uk to discuss it. 1 in 100 people in the UK has epilepsy. So, in Watford there will be around 1,000 people with the condition.
A purple-lit web page has the title Digital Accessibility Matters on it next to a large flashing icon. Above title text reads National Epilepsy Week - 19-25 May. To the side of 4 points to create a safe online space: 1. Ensure media does not flash more than 3 times in a 1-second period, 2. Issue warnings on sites and social media if you have flashing media, 3. Ensure media player controls are present, 4. Disable features that automatically play and motion animations.
Around 50 million people worldwide have epilepsy, making it one of the most common neurological diseases.

This #NationalEpilepsyWeek I attended the Epilepsy Society’s exhibition in Parliament highlighting advice to “Calm, Cushion, Call”. They use world-class research to personalise treatment, reduce stigma & improve lives & offer vital support for groups like Somerset’s South West Epilepsy Nurses.

It's #NationalEpilepsyWeek for our UK members. Organisations such as https://www.supportdogs.org.uk/ train dogs like Cobble to provide a 100% reliable warning up to 1 hour in advance of an oncoming seizure. This gives time for their owner to find a place of safety and privacy. #lifechangers
Delighted to be supporting the Epilepsy Society this week with their exhibition in Parliament where you can find out what to do when someone is experiencing a seizure and other very useful about epilepsy including stories of those living with the condition
