The old State Capitol building in Springfield, Illinois. It is a Greek revival building, rectangular with four columns in the front. Split Rock Lighthouse stands atop a 130 plus foot cliff overlooking Lake Superior. The deep blue waters of the lake can be seen across the very bottom of the photo. The cliffside is sheer rock. The lighthouse atop it is octagonal in shape. There appear to be four sections rising up. The base is concrete. The two sections above it are a tan colored brick. The lower of those has a window at the bottom center and another at the top left. The section above it is about half the size and has a window at the top center. At the top is the glass-enclosed light with a black steel top. Behind the lighthouse is a fog signal building. A pair of sirens can be seen pointing out toward the lake. At the left of the photo is another brick building, with a red roof, which is part of the lighthouse keeper's house. The sky above and to the right of the cliff is a light blue.
