every so often I log onto my PDS, and I search up “mastodon” in order to see what people are saying about the Fediverse (because people on other social sites use “mastodon” as short-hand for the entire Fediverse), and while I do believe many have begun moving over, there are some people out there who don’t quite understand that things have changed since 2016.

It's very noticeable that, deep down, they want to make the unexpected audience that they've got to get away, in order to implement the blockchain (and similar cryptostuff) to Bluesky. Because they know that "unexpected audience" hates cryptocurrencies a lot, so that's why they didn't put them at the moment.

I've seen more than one person today on #NewsFromMastodon say that "if Bluesky was decentralized like Fedi, it would be possible to defederate the instance that @whitehouse is on"… this is *not* a bug that you can't easily cut off many users from many other users, that's a feature / bugfix! 🫠

Me: Which billionaires are controlling Bluesky specifically? Them: Jack Dorsey Me: How is Jack Dorsey controlling Bluesky? He's not involved in it, not a part of the team, he's not on the board, doesn't have any shares, and doesn't even have an account there anymore. Them: (1.) He put up a lot of the money to start it. That buys influence. Influence lasts. These are, at the very least, his personal friends and business associates. I don't believe for a second that they are not a sinister cabal with evil plans for humanity. (2.) What happens on paper and what happens in real life are two different things. Dorsey is just the type to use that to deceive us. Again. But then, so are all capitalists.
