Front, side, and dissected view photographs of anthesis flowers from Nicotiana section Repandae allopolyploids (N. nudicaulis, N. repanda, and N. stocktonii) and their diploid progenitors N. sylvestris and N. obtusifolia. Nicotiana nudicaulis also has side view flower bud photographs at Stage 1, Stage 2, and Stage 3, which represent 60%, 85%, and 95% of anthesis length, respectively. Nicotiana nudicaulis and N. repanda have transgressive delphinidin pigmentation not found in either progenitor.

Plant TOR is activated by light and sugars. Great work by Liu et al. (2024) on how #PlantTOR kinase positively regulates plant #FattyAcid and lipid synthesis in #Nicotiana benthamiana leaves 🍃, #Arabidopsis seedlings 🌱 and #Brassica napus suspension cells.

Luiz A. Cruz-Santos follows at #SOL2024 with a presentation about drought adaptation in the #Nicotiana Suaveolentes clade. Around 69 species have been described in this lineage. The ancestor of Australian nicotianas arrived to Pilbara mora than 2 MYA, an extremely drought region.
