Day 122 revisiting 10-year-old #NoPlasters tweets;
Happy Birthday Kairos Modern Learning. Here's our reflective blog. Celebrate your milestones by sharing your learning.
Digs back into the archives to find that blog....
Makes me wonder about how much L&D use an org's history
#Learning #Development
Day 121 revisiting 10-year-old #NoPlasters tweets;
Learn, Reflect, Relearn. Repeat. This is a sound foundation for any modern learning environment.
One of my more bold #NoPlasters tweets in 2015, and one which I thoroughly stand by today. The learning never stops.
#Learning #Development
Seems I'm not the only person you've drawn over to BlueSky!
I only joined to see #NoPlasters, and I'm so glad I did! Thanks for all your efforts to reshare it.
Day 120 revisiting 10 year old #NoPlasters tweets;
Don't be afraid to embrace art in your org's learning e.g. as a memory trigger #FF @simonheath.bsky.social @dougshawart.bsky.social
I love these two Friday Follows from years ago are still showing us how art & learning mix
#Learning #Development
Day 119 of 10YO #NoPlasters;
Relive Open University TV progs from years ago by being equally as pioneering in L&D. Do things differently.
Loved how pioneering OU were back in the day. Ideas which seem old fashioned now could still be relevant - job aids, checklists, 1:1 help.
#Learning #Development
Day 118 of 10YO #NoPlasters;
Social Learning is simply people learning from people. Tech is one tool for that;
"I didn't know what social learning was. So in the new @PeopleMgt, I asked other people. Turns out that's what it is"
www.peoplemanagement.co.uk/article/1746...
Yup!
#Learning #Development
Day 117 of 10YO #NoPlasters;
Keep up to date with new tech & ideas via advocacy from your network. Their story can help define your story
When I'm asked what's the most valuable way to learn if new to L&D I always say 'network'. Your #PLN are so valuable for your learning.
#Learning #Development
Day 116 of 10YO #NoPlasters;
Value video to support new messaging via news headline style reports. Interview change agents in your org
Looks like I called it on TikTok style learning before that exploded. Who knew! Video remains a vital tool in our L&D toolbag. Do you use it?
#Learning #Development
Day 115 of 10YO #NoPlasters;
Here's Kate Graham's summary blog on #LTSF15. Why not try a blog after your events bit.ly/1K05Mck Insights from this week's #LTSF15
Tweeting and blogging from live events was so important to me. It taught me to listen well, curate & sense make.
#Learning #Development
Day 114 of 10YO #NoPlasters;
Curating knowledge is a skill for present & future L&D professionals. Practice the skill with Pinterest
Curation is a must-have skill for L&Ders now. Content is EVERYWHERE, so discerning what's relevant for your organisation context is a necessity
#Learning #Development
Day 113 of 10YO #NoPlasters;
Love this summary of Flipped Classroom. Something to try in workplace learning QUOTED TWEET
So what was the tweet? Lost to the mists of time. Flipped Classroom seems old now, yet isn't standard. Why? Should classroom be lost to the mists of time?
#Learning #Development
Day 112 of 10YO #NoPlasters;
Make use of Twitter for your own personal learning, especially today by following #LTSF15 for latest ideas
How much Twitter used to form part of my personal learning network! These days not at all. I use LinkedIn mostly. Where do your people hang?
#Learning #Development
Day 111 of 10YO #NoPlasters;
Know what your motivation is, or learning simply will not take place.
Short and sweet this time 10 years ago! Yet relevant and true for today. Tapping into learner motivation comes not from talking learning, but talking about business problems.
#Learning #Development
Day 110 of 10YO #NoPlasters;
After y'day's podcast, a video on collaboration with Helen Amery & Bev Holden youtu.be/89BYmK9bNkA
What strikes me is the quality of cameras. Crazy how much they've moved in 10 years. Bev was rocking YouTube video pods before they were a thing!
#Learning #Development
Day 109 of #NoPlasters 10 years on;
Embrace the tech! A podcast made with Caro Walmsley of BrightTweet Hope you enjoy!
Podcasts have exploded since 2015. This is maybe the 1st pod I recorded, & no longer available. Here's the last one I was on instead youtu.be/nnePDrEknSE?...
#Learning #Development
Day 108 of 10YO #NoPlasters ideas;
Crowdsourcing learning assets from your org engages them in whole learning process & gives stickier results
I still love this idea. When people are part of the creative process, they remember much more. More of this please, L&D.
#Learning #Development
Day 107 of 10YO #NoPlasters ideas;
Help your org's L&D evolution progress with @TowardsMaturity Benchmark
This benchmark is now part of MindTools for Business. Also 360 Learning have joined the party with their L&D Maturity Model. Benchmarking externally is still important.
#Learning #Development
Day 106 of 10YO #NoPlasters ideas;
Don't use jargon or acronyms. Use the language of your org to demonstrate how you can solve org's issues
One of the most important things I still bang on about. Nobody cares about learning but L&Ders. Use the language of your business!
#Learning #Development
Day 105 of 10YO #NoPlasters ideas;
NonL&D people don't think our way so we need to think their way to understand needs & communicate effectively
Often we are still using jargon, talking learning not business context, and sadly are not showing our value and impact.
#Learning #Development
Day 104 of 10YO #NoPlasters ideas;
Opening your mind to new ideas grows a wider L&D world #FF neuroscientist Amy Brann www.synapticpotential.com
Is Friday Follow #FF a thing on Bluesky (& on a Wednesday!)? Following people outside of L&D is still super important for learning
#Learning #Development
Day 103 of 10YO #NoPlasters ideas;
Evolution of L&D is easier with advocates. Chat to people, build relationships to ensure your changes succeed
Occassionally in this revisit I see the seed which grew into a chapter in #TheLnDHandbook. This is one. Evolution or Revolution.
#Learning #Development
Day 102 of 10YO #NoPlasters ideas;
Try podcasts as new way of sharing learning. Take a smartphone & expert into a quiet room to record their tips
I called that one for the win 10 years ago! Podcasts have EXPLODED in popular use. Curating the best ones for your org is a must.
#Learning #Development
Day 101 of 10YO #NoPlasters ideas;
Command & control culture stifles innovation. Buck this trend. Prove concepts to gain trust in your changes
I've never been a fan of command & control. Flatter structures in any org design are my choice. Autonomy & good thinking for the win!
#Learning #Development
Day 100 of 10YO #NoPlasters ideas;
Gain strength & support from a #PLN via Twitter. Unsure how? Let Kandy Woodfield show you www.slideshare.net/kandyw/cipd-...
I love that this is still online. Still relevant now. Sadly Kandy has died; I'm proud to honour her with a reshare.
#Learning #Development
Day 99 revisiting 10 year old #NoPlasters ideas;
Like #NoPlasters? I've got small slot on #LNTV tonight at 8pm. Also many other stories being shared.
LNTV is still on & I'm regularly still on it! You can catch all the action on the last Thursday of the month learningnow.tv
#Learning #Development
Day 98 revisiting #NoPlasters 10 years later;
A wider agenda can help L&D evolve. Try connecting to Engagement youtu.be/ZSaN33JMvf0 HT Engage4Success
I'm happy this video is still available. Are the stats the same: 1 in 3 workers in the UK are not engaged? Curious.
#Learning #Development
Day 97 revisiting #NoPlasters 10 years later;
Late tweet today due to no signal reminds us that it is not always about the tech
I'm moving house at the moment and have no wifi. How weird to be hotspotting off my phone 10 years later too! Everything and nothing changes.
#Learning #Development
Sorry to hear about Pocket - I know you're a fan. In revisiting my ten year old #NoPlasters tweets here on Bluesky the thing I notice which has changed the most is the actual platforms. They're no longer here or very different. Makes me curious on where my digital memories & important stuff's saved.
Day 96 revisiting #NoPlasters 10 years later;
Continue moving towards more consultative L&D by asking staff about their needs rather than asking managers
I'm sad that this still isn't happening across the profession. Effective solutions need those impacted voices to rely on.
#Learning #Development
Day 95 revisiting #NoPlasters 10 years later;
Start a consultative approach to L&D in your org by asking everyone what's their pain? Then create solutions
L&D loves solutions. We jump to them and we shouldn't! This tweet really is one which became the heart of #TheLnDHandbook
#Learning #Development
