Here's a more typical recording of a flock going high over last night #nocmig
Happy to say the recording of the recent webinar by Wildlife Acoustics, Inc. "Dispatches from the Dark" is now available at: www.wildlifeacoustics.com/.../train...... Thanks so much for the opportunity to talk about "the invisible miracle happening over our heads at night" #nocmig #birds #beijing
Three small groups of Common Scoter east over Hadfield @derbyshirebirds.bsky.social UKBirding #nocmig
Presume this is a Long eared Owl calling? Recorded last night @ 02:30. @sound-birder.bsky.social @kentishplover.bsky.social #nocmig
Any ideas on this call over Bishopstone last night? @sound-birder.bsky.social @kentishplover.bsky.social #nocmig
Big movement of Whoopers overnight and this morning through the Doncaster area. Pity I'm stuck indoors, but recorded some over the house last night. Got a boy racer at the same time - typical! The joys of #nocmig 🙄
Our team launched a Motus Audio flight call recorder at Long Point Bird Observatory. Natalie & Madison added a recorder to the Old Cut Motus Tower, with help from Nelsy Sarah & Jeff, and in collaboration w/ Birds Canada. 🎤🎶🐦👍

My first #nocmig setup here on a busy Manchester street. It’s a song meter micro 2 with with smallrig clamp on 3rd floor balcony. The one probable is the noise from the street below: if anyone has any tips to try and drown out the anthropogenic noise, I’m all ears!

I remember a talk by Andrew Grieve about Blacktoft Sands when he talked about the discovery of 100's of Common Scoters flying up the Humber heading inland. Since taking up #nocmig I still find it amazing when I get recordings of scoters over Doncaster in the dead of night
Need some help with #nocmig please. Chirpty picks up barn owl calling. Last night it picked it up over 5k times!! There is a constant white noise hiss throughout the entire session which is visible on the graph a set of pale lines. I assume it low frequency noise as I can't hear it when outside..
#nocmig common scoter migration picking up pace over Elvington, 11 flocks recorded between 10pm and 2am last night.
Thanks to @wildlifeacoustics.com for hosting Chirpity's Matt Kirkland in a recent webinar. Here's a link to Matt's talk about all things Chirpity #chirpity #nocmig #birds #bioacoustics #migration #wildlife #biodiversity

Big movement of Redwing on Oakdale #nocmig last night. 327 calls 20:30-22:15 as well as 16 Blackbird & 1 S.Thrush. Only 22 Redwing logged after that to 05:00. Also, Curlew & Brent picked up. @harbourbirds.bsky.social @dorsetbirdclub.bsky.social
#patch #birds #nocmig recorder out last night in search of migrating Scoter had some ladt year along with Whoopers
A spectrogram showing a downwards whistle, labelled Redwing.
A spectrogram showing three high pitched downward whistles, labelled Eurasian Siskin.
A spectrogram showing a sequence of high-pitched calls that go up in frequency, then drop sharply downwards, labelled Hawfinch call.
A spectrogram showing a faint broadband call, labelled Grey Heron.
After attending a great webinar hosted by @wildlifeacoustics.com last week, we’ve trialled #nocmig using Chirpity. Fascinating results, with plenty of birds passing over, and being identified by their flight calls, including Siskins, Redwings and Hawfinches heading north @chirpity-nocmig.bsky.social
A few inland common scoters today, might be a good idea to do some #nocmig tonight.
Jeff Dutter is a bioacoustics intern, joining our lab as part of the Master's of Bioacoustics (MoBi) program at U. Saint-Etienne. Today we had phase 2 of testing our Motus Audio microphone horns in our campus studio. Great work Jeff! #NocMig @ibiouwindsor.bsky.social @nicolasmathevon.bsky.social
I use a Tashcam DR-05X with a Neewer NW-81 Super Uni Directional Electrec Condenser Microphone for #nocmig I'm getting interference on the recordings. Is it because I'm using a cheap microphone @simongillings.bsky.social

We're testing out our latest prototypes of Motus Audio recorders in a campus recording studio. Led by visiting research student Jeff Dutter, with support from Natalie, Nelsy, and Madison. What effects do different plastic wraps have on our #nocmig recordings? Stay tuned to find out.

Instead of our usual Thursday lab meeting, today our team is joining the @wildlifeacoustics.com #NocmigWebinar "Dispatches in the Dark." We're learning all about nocturnal flight calls, migration over China and Europe, and the Chirpity #nocmig package. Thanks for hosting, Wildlife Acoustics!
Just back from a 'Live' #nocmig session for an hour at Bishopstone. Managed to add a patch tick in the shape of a Moorhen flying over calling. @kentishplover.bsky.social #kentbirding
Cheers, I've dusted off my #nocmig kit as keep hearing birds passing over after dark.
Nice hearing the Redwings on the move, making my night shift more bearable #nocmig
