In 1992, Manuel Noriega was convicted in a U.S. federal court on eight counts of drug trafficking, racketeering, and money laundering. He was sentenced to a total of 40 years in prison, later reduced to 30 years. Post-U.S. Imprisonment: Noriega served 17 years in the U.S. prison system before being extradited to France in 2010 to face money laundering charges, where he was again convicted.
