The North American Nebula shines in December. Seestar S50 1384x10 sec subs #ngc7000 #northamericannebula #seestar #seestarS50 #astrophotography
Here’s a wide shot of the Pelican & North American Nebulae. I used my trusty refractor telescope along with a 0.7x reducer. It was also my first time shooting monochrome on this scope #ngc7000 #northamericannebula #ic5070 #pelicannebula #space #astronomy #astrophotography #askar #fra400 #nebula
NGC 7000 North American Nebula - telescope processed image. A giant emission nebula whose shape distinctly resembles the continent of North America, glowing red from ionized hydrogen gas near the bright star Deneb.
NGC 7000 North American Nebula - unprocessed image. The "Mexico/Central America" part is called the Cygnus Wall, a 20-light-year long, dense ridge of gas and dust that is actively forming new stars!
Finally was successful with a mosaic of #NGC7000 #NorthAmericanNebula. #seestar #S50 #space #astronomy #amateur
NGC 7000 North American Nebula - unprocessed image. Despite its vast size (4x the full moon), the star making it glow was a mystery until 2004 as it is hidden behind a thick cloud of dust.
Here is the last image from last night. It is a failed mosaic of #NGC7000 #NorthAmericanNebula. I did use my phone to adjust the brightness and contrast a bit. Though the observation is more than an hour, some time last night the s50 seems to have […]

NGC 7000 North American Nebula - telescope processed image. The NGC 7000, or North America Nebula, is a vast emission nebula in the constellation Cygnus. It is named for its striking resemblance to the continent.
NGC 7000 North American Nebula - unprocessed image. This famous nebula is part of the same cloud as the Pelican Nebula (IC 5070), separated by a thick lane of interstellar dust.
Got the Seestar TH10 Fluid Tripod Head as well so set it up this afternoon and decided to give it a trial run. Here is a mosaic of #NGC7000 #NorthAmericanNebula. Took about 12 minutes to be able to have a complete image to process. Apparently in equatorial […]

A night sky photo, close up on a small area of the Milky Way in the constellation Cygnus (The Swan). Besides a massive amount of stars, some features are the bright star Deneb, some dark areas of opaque dust, and a magenta area of nebulosity known as The North American nebula (in the upper left corner, tipped onto the East Coast in this perspective, with the Gulf of Mexico to the left of that). The bright star cloud area stretches roughly from the top middle, all the way down the middle of the image. And true to it's name, there are so many stars that it resemble a cloudy area. There really aren't any areas in the image without any stars, even the dark dust lanes have a few in front of them.
In my previous post of the early morning planets, I mentioned getting some #MilkyWay images that night also. Here's one! The #Cygnus constellation area, with it's dense star cloud, it's bright star #Deneb, and the #NorthAmericanNebula!

NGC 7000 North American Nebula - telescope processed image. The dark “clouds” to the left are open areas, so the nebula is on the right side.
NGC 7000 North American Nebula - unprocessed image. You can seen the differences between non-nebula and nebula areas here. This is the best I got for today.
Tried again to see #NGC7000 #NorthAmericanNebula. After 60 minutes these are the images I got. #unistellar #odysseypro #space #astronomy #amateur

A couple of pics from an all-nighter in Milton Keynes with friends. It was fun to stay up and watch the sun rise…and I was happy to get a decent set of subs from a 3hr shoot of the North American Nebula! #dwarflab #astrophotography #northamericannebula #dwarf3
The North American Nebula, showing stars and colourful interstellar dust-particles and ionised-hydrogen gas.
The weather has been terrible for astrophotography lately...but last week there was a gap in the clouds long enough for me to get a half-decent pic of the North American Nebula aka NGC7000, with the DwarfLab Dwarf 3 smart telescope #dwarflab #northamericannebula #ngc7000 #dwarf3 #astrophotography
