The Red-tailed Hawk is the most widespread hawk in North America. It's bulky and broadwinged for effortless soaring. The adult's body is mainly dark brown with a white chest and brown belly band. Adults also have a rusty-red tail. This juvenile has thin horizontal stripes on the underside of its brown tail.

The Horned Grebe is a small diving bird. The body and head are mainly dark brown. The eyes are red. In breeding season it sports a splay of gold-colored feathers over its cheeks.
