Just yesterday I was revisiting #NotYourShield , and recalling the irony of the slogan, where GamerGaters were counting on women and minorities to provide them cover by defiantly claiming they would not be used as political props

Remember #NotYourShield? There's IRC text where they specified to only mention that hashtag alongside GG; not separate. It was essentially a whole façade to earn some sympathy points and make their case seem more legitimate.

Interesting how one of the hashtags got abandoned. 🤔

Not to mention that harassment of minorities in #GamerGate (remember #NotYourShield) became acceptable solely because of how they stood on journalism ethics. Anti-GamerGate people were largely anti-ethics and weaponized womanhood and minority status to denigrate people who didn't fall in line.
