This is my fanfic #ORBAT of the 28th Infantry Division as it might've appeared in the @caseamber.com timeline. Two mechanized infantry and an armored combat command. Also includes a Combat Command from the Maryland NG and a Delaware NG AA unit.

Here we take a look at the Divisional ORBAT (Order of Battle) for June 1944. On Operation Overlord the two 'towed' Field Regiments were replaced by two Self-Propelled (SP) Regiments.

Across the Western world, Armies wanted to experiment with and develop new force structures after the Cold War to prepare for the unknowns of the 21st Century. The #ausarmy's A21 restructure was one set of proposed reforms, and this structure is the subject of today's #orbat.

Now, at face value, this is a lot of firepower. However, scratching the surface, it has some severe limitations.

A few changes to the #ausarmy’s #orbat have been announced recently. So far we have the ‘disestablishment’ of 6bde and the transfer of 9 REG Royal Australian Artillery from 2nd (Aust.) Division to 10 Bde.

Whilst researching the 1st Aust. Div in 1999 #orbat, I came across a paper from COL D J HURLEY (yes, the future governor-general) published in 1997. He proposed an Australian army structure that is... interesting.

Today's #ausarmy #orbat for the #orbatboys, the Aust. Army's 1st Division in 1999. 1DIV aimed to move away from the Defence of Australia doctrine and become flexible, deployable, and scalable.

It would face its first test during INTERFET.

The organization of a Medium Tactical Vehicle or MTV Platoon, equipped with the M1083A1P2 5-ton truck and accompanying M1095 Trailer. Each platoon has 4 Truck Squads, and each squad has an M-ATV as an escort and control vehicle and 5 trucks with trailers. The Platoon HQ also has an M-ATV, for a total of 5 M-ATVs and 20 MTVs and trailer sper platoon. A Heavy Composite Truck Company has 1 of these platoons and a Light Composite Truck Company has 2. These are divisional companies contained within the Division Sustainment Support Battalion.
