A message to #ACOEM members and the #OccEnvMed community – The recent staff cuts at #NIOSH and other HHS agencies are deeply concerning.

These changes could affect vital residency programs and the broader field of occupational and environmental medicine.

Yay! I haven't seen you in my feed yet I think... Or maybe because I follow you everywhere it's blending together.

But I assumed I would notice when I post #OccEnvMed posts and presumably you would like them 😅

Also relevant, we're probably going to lose the National #Firefighter Registry for Cancer, which was only just getting off the ground and is sorely needed because FF have greater than population risks of cancer, cardiac disease, and PTSD, let alone many hazards. 😳 #OccEnvMed

We had funding issues before because most #OccEnvMed residencies rely on NIOSH funding, which was already sparse, but this is way worse.

It's particularly bad because we're the most prevalent #publichealth trained specialty in clinical medicine. Which seems pretty relevant right now...

This is what I was talking about in my talk with regard to lacking trustworthy sources for #publichealth information!
