Although at #OSM26 all last week, I didn't think to cross the #RiverClyde to see the @secglasgow.bsky.social from the other side till afterwards. In case fellow #oceanographers 🌊 didn't either, here's some night snaps ...

Climate change is impacting ocean currents which in turn impact the climate. Prof Paul Myers and his team of #oceanographers (inc @desinge.bsky.social) are using numerical models to study #Arctic Ocean currents: futurumcareers.com/modelling-th...

As water masses age and move toward the N. Pacific, they become increasingly enriched in these #nutrients. This is why nitrogen (DIN) concentrations are much higher in the Pacific compared to the Atlantic. πŸ§ͺ

A great example of why #chemical #oceanographers can’t skip #physics or #biology! 🌊

What do #MarineChemists and #chemical #oceanographers actually do? 🌊πŸ§ͺ
We measure elements in the ocean. Yes, the same ones you see on the #periodic table (check out: www.mbari.org/know-your-oc...)! These measurements tell us how the ocean works and supports life. Another🧡

2/n This means I work w/lots of #oceanographers #scientists + #mariners... The best part is getting out in the field (like here with CarbonRun). In my past life, I got in the water way more (see my avatar - that was at work!)...

#oceanographers:
Do you think the subpolar North Atlantic gyre strength is correlated to AMOC strength? If so, what is the sign of the relationship? I have an opinion, but I’ve found articles taking different positions on the topic.

#oceanographers (??) of blue sky #bluewaves? #blueseas? Whatever.

How far out can one estimate high and low tides? If I needed to know when low tide was going to be for October 22, can I safely do that based on current timing?

Trying not to die on the west coast, thanks.
