Last night's trip to #OgdenPoint in #VictoriaBC allowed me to experiment with exposure bracketing, a great way to bring out extra details in a photo with tricky lighting.

A small lighthouse stands on the end of the Ogden Point breakwater. In the foreground is the walkway on top of the breakwater. Fences on either side of the walkway provide leading lines to the lighthouse. Beyond is water and, in the background, hills rising from a far shore. The image comes from the poster’s Strava account and so is overlaid with running stats and the words, “Morning Run Along Dallas Road.”
I’m a mouth breather. Which has its advantages. Like this morning when I ran thru a cloud of gnats and got all that extra protein. Yum.

I have the toxicity headache. Why? Because this outrageous dose of GHGs, health threatening ultrafine airborne particles, toxic nitrogen and sulfur oxides from cruise ship Quantum of the Seas is pointed at my house. No one should have to live with this, it’s unconscionable.

A deep green-grey choppy ocean breaks on a stony beach. The clouds above it swoop in two dramatic arcs, the ones on the left top wispy and white, the on the right bottom a misty dark grey that promises rain and (as it later proved) hail. At the bottom of the photo a small gull has splooted out quite flat on a concrete ledge, so it can point into the wind but not be tipped over by the shockingly strong gusts. Whenever I look across to Port Angeles (right frame, across ocean) on a sunny day, it's either enveloped in a fog bank or getting the full force of a storm. Sequim off to the left always has sunbeams though, it's very interesting. People visiting from Sequim always seem super happy too, I wonder if it's all the extra light?
Dramatic clouds at the breakwater as the squall moves in. Also check out the splooted gull at the bottom of the photo, I've never seen a gull do that before, but it sure makes it hard for a gust to blow it off its ledge!

Cruise ships passing through Canadian waters on their way from Alaska to California and back are required to stop in at least one Canadian port, usually Victoria. Ogden Point as 4 berths for cruise ships but seldom has more than 3. These ships collectively brought about 12,000, mostly American, tourists. This happens several nights a week during the summer.
