In the Neo-Confederate South, especially in Cahaba, any music or media that isn't deemed "Southern" let alone doesn't follow any traditional Southern cultural values is considered a crime. So when Kyrie found a vinyl record containing her favorite music genre which is 1980's Japanese Pop music, she began to play it on a record player at Gritter's house. When Gritter hears the synthesized funk pop echo into his bedroom, he freaks out and runs downstairs to yank the disc from off the turntable and throw it into the fire, out of a dreadful fear that the Confederate officers will break into his house and arrest him.
