To the right, a sidebar reads: "Now, more than ever, Rita regretted her terrible mistake. Since the reeds along the shore were cutting sharply into her legs, she headed out across the beach, fighting her way through a thick patch of stinking, bubbling mud. Having moved out past that, she strode on the wet, sandy flat, wich shifted uneasily around her ankles. She gasped i na nervous startle, sweat dripping from beneath the long bangs off her forehead. Instead of returning to the reeds, Rita went closer to the water, hoping to find some relief along the water's edge. With one abrupt, halting step she plunged into heavy, thick, slurping earth. Gasping with frustration, she fought to push herself back out with her free leg but only succeeded in pushing her other leg through the thin crust floating on the surface of the quagmire. She fought hard to free herself with her outstretched arms. but they too were claimed by the bog as she sank steadily, up past her thighs, on up around her waist and continuing up to her chest. With the ooze now forming a thick, clinging, asphalt-like apron around her, Rita realised she was placed at odds against a twisted, hungry, yet lifelessly cold devourer of souls. Screaming until her voice cracked with desperation, she sobbed and prayed for a shining knight to rescue her, a true damsel in distress, from the deadly quicksand that sought to bring her brief life on Earth to a permanent demise."
