#OperationAnthropoid, the plot to assassinate #ReinhardHeydrich, launched on #ThisDayInHistory in 1941. It took six months; on 27 May 1942 he was killed by men from the Czechoslovak Army, trained by British SOE. #Heydrich was a major architect of the #Holocaust and had it coming.

May 27, 1942. Jozef Gabčík (Slovak, just 30) & Jan Kubiš (Czech, one month short of 30) completed their mission in Prague. The eventual assassination of Reinhard Heydrich, who died in hospital days later of the upholstering he'd received. #OperationAnthropoid 9 bravest young men. Memorial Day.
