We will arise from the bunkers

The Decembrists and the amazing Oregon Symphony. So good! #warravagedportland

On stage at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, the Decemberists perform with the Oregon Symphony. Lead singer Colin Meloy, wearing a blue suit, sits at the very edge of the stage under a bright white spotlight, holding a microphone and gesturing with one hand toward the audience. Behind him, the orchestra fills the stage, with rows of string players, brass, and percussion lit in deep blue. The band’s instruments—a piano, upright bass, drum set, and guitars—are arranged across the front. The ornate theater interior glows with soft blue light, highlighting its carved details and gold accents. Audience members are visible in the foreground, watching attentively.

You know you’re getting old when your favorite bands start performing with the symphony. That said, this was a fantastic show.

My only regret about the picture is that Jenny Conlee got cut out and her enthusiasm was one of the best parts of the show.

A retouched image capturing the Oregon Symphony orchestra performing live on a beautifully illuminated stage. The musicians, dressed formally, are arranged in a semi-circle, each focused on their instruments. The conductor stands in the center, actively leading the ensemble with expressive movements. The scene is bathed in blue light, creating a dramatic and immersive atmosphere.

Behind the performers, a series of panels or screens add depth to the composition, possibly displaying visuals that complement the music. The contrast between the dark surroundings and the vibrant stage lighting highlights the musicians, making them the focal point of the image.

This moment feels grand and captivating, embodying the energy and precision of a live symphonic performance.

A retouched image capturing a dramatic stage performance featuring a large orchestra bathed in red lighting.

The orchestra members are seated, playing their instruments, while a person in a red outfit stands at the front, possibly conducting or performing. The red lighting amplifies the intensity of the moment, creating a powerful visual contrast against the darker tones of the musicians and the stage.

The overall atmosphere is captivating, blending mystery, grandeur, and visual storytelling into a striking composition.

A retouched image capturing the Oregon Symphony orchestra performing on a stage bathed in dramatic red and green lighting. The musicians, seated in a semi-circle, are deeply immersed in their performance, with a harp prominently positioned on the left side of the stage. The conductor, standing on the right, is actively leading the ensemble, shaping the energy of the music.

A bold, semi-transparent text overlay reading
"TWIN PEAKS" stretches across the image, reinforcing the idea that the orchestra was performing music related to the legendary television series.

The atmospheric lighting, combined with the intensity of the musicians, creates a cinematic feel-almost as if the performance itself is an extension of the show's eerie and evocative storytelling.

An image showing the concert program for The Music of Angelo Badalamenti & Twin Peaks, scheduled for Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 7:30 PM. The conductor for the event is Sarah Hicks, and the performance will take place at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall.

The program features an incredible selection of musical works by Angelo Badalamenti, including iconic pieces from Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet, Mulholland Drive, Wild at Heart, and more.

It's divided into two parts, with an intermission in between, creating a structured and immersive musical experience. Highlights include Laura Palmer's Theme, Audrey's Dance, and Sycamore Trees-each piece carrying the signature haunting and atmospheric style that made Twin Peaks unforgettable.
