gaakaabishiinh / Eastern Screech-Owl (Megascops asio), gichi-ziibiing, adaawaang, anishinaabewakiing, C. Artuso. This red Eastern Screech-owl apparently moulted most body feathers from July to early September, & was comical in appearance when in peak moult in late July. I made somewhat regular, super quick dawn checks of one of their regular roost sites to observe this. All photos are heavily cropped & lighting conditions vary.
