What is Marvelous? An audiovisual reimagining of The Marvelous Land of Oz, the long-neglected original sequel to The Wonderful Wizard of Oz A narrative centered around adventure, revolution, conspiracy, abandonment, and the realization of identity and purpose A communal passion project led by a diverse group of young creatives and aspiring Oz historians A project created by a team that is dedicated to bringing this story to life, no matter how long it takes
Who is Marvelous? Tippetarius, a sixteen-year-old kid trying to figure out who he is away from everything he has ever known Jack Pumpkinhead, a gourd-headed scarecrow with love in his heart and seeds in his noggin Sawhorse, a wooden steed with a need for speed Mombi, a cruel occultist driven by discovery and dealmaking Jinjur, the rabble-rousing teenage General of the Army of Revolt
Why is Marvelous? The Marvelous Land of Oz, though meant for a young audience, can still be mined for resonant themes, including the discovery of identity, the inevitability of change, the power of youth, and the importance of truth. As such, though the book may be somewhat dated, it can still be transformed into something with resonance for our current era. The story also holds pivotal implications for the wider Oz universe through its introduction of a character who plays an integral role in shaping Oz’s future, not just the events of this story. Suffice it to say that if you’ve seen any part of this project, you’ve seen her. Besides themes and implications, MARVELOUS also contains characters who are just as charming as the Scarecrow and Tin Woodsman (and they come back, too!). Tip, Jack Pumpkinhead, and their friends are colorful and full of life, and their inclusion alone is enough reason to infuse this tale with new vitality.

We do not have a corporate machine behind us, so any help you can provide give will be greatly appreciated. And even if all you can do is watch, keep watching... for something new is coming, and it may just turn out to be something marvelous.

I think people who describe L. Frank Baum's #Ozbooks as darker than the MGM film are taking elements in isolation rather than the overall effect. I'm reading the first book now and Baum's Dorothy is comically jaded, not frightened by anything and protected by a spell. (1/2)
