I know I just posted a bunch of crabs, but the King needed a post of it's own. This Decorator was showing off it's massive barnacle crown while enjoying it's favorite meal.

Anyone else in a crabbie mood? These little Decorator Kelp Crabs cover themselves in sponges, algae, and sea grass to hide themselves from predators. Can you spot the one in the last photo?

I've called these the Yellow Margin Dorid for a while, but upon researching further it turns out it's the Hudson’s Dorid (Acanthodoris hudsoni). Regardless, they're both adorable little PNW residents

One quick shot of a Ruby Octo that was having some big feelings in regards to my lights. Look at that eye!

This little Ruby was perfectly hidden on the inside of a piling making both lighting and shooting it quite a challenge. I just love the blue hue of its skin in the first shot!

Red Blackeyed Goby perched on rocks under a piling
Another commonly overlooked fish in the PNW is the Blackeyed Goby (Rhinogobiops nicholsii). This species can be found up and down the west cost of the US, usually perched on their large pectoral fins on bottom under rocks and pilings.

Close up of red and yellow painted anemone
Painted Anemones are some of the most beautiful creatures on dives in the PNW. They're so colorful and architectural, but often get overlooked because they're so common.

Dorids come in so many shapes, sizes and colors. This Heath's Dorid (Geitodoris heathi) - I think - caught my eye because of it's incredible marbling!

Lemon Nudibranch are pretty common in the Pacific Northwest, but can you spot what's a little harder to get a good shot of?

Little octopus with scars above its eyes
Did anyone else's January kick their ass? Seems that this poor octo really felt it too, with literal chunks of flesh missing.

Nudibranch like this Diamondback Tritonia are already pretty small, but look closer. Do you see the even tinier critters in this photo? Scroll for Copepods (I think).

Another fun fact is that under ideal conditions, both giant and bull kelp can grow 10-12 inches per day!
