Very happy with the excellent student feedback on my modules for semester one! #POLI101 (British Politics) and #POLI252 (PolComm) were both highly praised for being intellectually important with stimulating seminars! Each are delivered with great passionate teaching. Absolutely delighted.
October 1st will be a great day for #rhetoric(!) An academic symposium will be taking place at @livunipol.bsky.social for a journal special edition. Invitations will be sent to all with an interest in communication including undergrads on #POLI252 & #POLI323. Details to follow over summer...
Looking forward to reading this - expanding the bases for the study and teaching of #rhetoric beyond #Europe by incorporating historic theories of communication from #China. This will be included on #POLI252 and #POLI323 for the next academic year at @livunipol.bsky.social.
Today was the first batch of student speeches for #POLI252! It was great to hear such passion on subjects such as the causes of terrorism, womens rights in Afghanistan, and knife crime in the UK. Loads more ahead! It's great to hear the students talk about issues they care deeply about.
Today on #POLI252 we look at the political interview, the role of the politican and interviewer, and how to ensure your political message gets through! It's like fencing... except you've got a stick and the interview has Excalibur! (or do they?)
From now on module information for my students will be posted on #Bluesky - hashtags will be module code, and students will have access to useful real-time information that are relevant to #POL101, #POLI252, #POLI263, #POLI323, and #POLI550. (readings & other imp. info will also be on the VLE).
Soon students taking my #POLI252 'Political Communications' module will start delivering their speeches! It's always brilliant to hear them as they deliver orations on political & social subjects close to their hearts. They are permitted to choose any subject provided they are passionate about it!
This year, video summaries will be returning to #POLI252, #POLI263, & #POLI323! These short videos appear after each lecture providing key messages! They appear on the VLE. Plus the impact of these videos was evidenced in research for my recent MA in Academic Pract. liverpool.ac.uk/centre-for-i...
#POLI252 (Political Comm.) covers freedom of speech, drawing on Mill and the harm principle to define hate speech. It seems like a rather useful way of approaching the subject, which I'll be reviewing ahead of the module returning. But there are centuries of thought on this.
