A completed jigsaw puzzle sits on a glass table. At the top of the view we can see a couple of dining chairs with cream-coloured, patterned seats and a metal frame. The edge of a wine rack is visible to the top right. The jigsaw puzzle has a thousand pieces and shows a painting of a vintage paddle steamship with black hull, white upper deck, and a couple of funnels just back from midship mainly in red with thick white and black bands above. The vessel is docked at the end of a stone pier around a small bay with colourful houses set back from the beach on the left and a harbour wall on the right. A church sits on higher land to the right behind the houses and some trees, its steeple poking into the sky which is a mix of pale blue and puffy white clouds. More vessels are in the water around, including a couple of yellow kayaks, a row boat with a couple in it, and some tourist boats.
We picked up a jigsaw when we sailed on Waverley recently as the money raised from sales helps with the upkeep of the vessel and we like jigsaws. It wasn't a very good quality puzzle, sadly, but it was fiendishly difficult as a lot of pieces were cut nearly [โฆ]

We're on a short, shallow, pebbled beach under sunny conditions casting the stones in a warm glow. The sky above is patchy sheets of thin cloud with blue smeared through it. We're looking out to sea which is calm and flat to the horizon where a thin strip of distant land covers the width of the view. Foam from a lapping wave at the water's edge is barely more than a frothy fringe. A low but long pier juts out a hundred or more metres from the left. It's narrow, only designed for people to walk along, not sporting any facilities, and long enough to reach the deeper water where some vessels can dock at its end. There is a vintage ocean-going paddle steamer at the end of the pier, facing left and with half its rear sticking out from the pier and in view of us. It's a low-lying vessel with a hull of black and white and it has two, distinctive, cylindrical funnels, both tilted back slightly, both mostly red but with a thick band of white then black at the tops.
