Ice Wagon

I adore Gallant's economical, powerful sentences.

"Any command is a release, in a way."

"The room was neat and belonged to no one."

"She felt neither heat nor cold."

"Who wants to be alone in the universe?"

"The Ice Wagon Going Down the Street." Great story about an expat couple, adrift in the present, living in the past. I'm not sure I got the final couple of lines, but that's okay I think. #ParisStories #NYRBWomen25
