Castrovel Inspirational Pic of the Week - My source attributes this to Eddie Mendoza, https://www.artstation.com/eddie . However, I've been unable to confirm on either his page above or on his Deviantart page (though it certainly looks like his style). This pic is a little more high-tech than I typically post. However, the Megafauna packbeast drew me as an environmental aspect. Until now, we've had Shotalashu as land-arboreal mounts (roughly equivalent to horses in size), plus a larger domesticated animal I've been calling a ~Triaelu~ - Shieldhead, basically like an elephant-size Chasmosaurus. However, the steed in this pics seemingly takes this to a whole other level. Possible in Castrovel's lush, biologicially rich environment?? Maybe. Domesticated Megafauna is an interesting if complicated topic. While Shotalashu may be ridden within the Megadendron limb-deck, bulk transport is probably an endeavor still left for the ground. Packbeasts have the advantage over wagons in being able to adapt more readily to mud (remember - it rains a lot!), although they may have the disadvantage of attracting predators of a similar size. After all, there's a reason why Nysshalora exist on this world! I envision Megafauna trade caravans being quite well-armed expeditions, not only to put up with the dangers of the jungle's darkfloor, but anything coming looking for a meal.
Art by Eddy Mendoza - a large lizard creature, the size of a giant elephant with pachyderm-like feet, walks through a city street full with pedestrians and hovercraft. Its rider on an ornate saddle bears a hi-tech gun across its back.
