My dog had a cataract— no, two. Clouds moving into both eyes like weather he didn’t order. They said they could clear the sky, brighten the lens, let him see my face sharp again— but it would come back. Three months. Then dark. And that feels cruel— to sell someone sunrise on a timer. So we chose the blur. He learned the house by heart. Followed my voice like light. Trusted the shape of my hands. Sight isn’t the only way to know you’re loved.
