La montre Core 2 Duo devient officiellement la Pebble 2 Duo Avant l'Apple Watch, il y avait les montres de Pebble. Issues d'un financement participatif à succès, elles avaient ouvert la voie aux modèles connectés, avant une faillite et un rachat en 2016 par Fitbit… puis Google par le jeu des rachats. En janvier 2025, Google a passé le système d'exploitation des montres en open source et un nouveau modèle, Core 2 Duo1, a été annoncé. Mais elle s'appellera finalement Pebble 2 Duo. La Pebble 2 Duo. Image Eric Migicovsky. Le choix du nom venait de celui de la société d'Eric Migicovsky, créateur des montres Pebble : Core Devices. Mais il a annoncé récemment que sa société avait récupéré les droits sur le nom Pebble. La Core 2 Duo devient donc la Pebble 2 Duo, la Core Time 2 devient la Pebble Time 2*2. Sur la même page, il explique que les premières montres n'arriveront évidemment pas en juillet, comme prévu au départ, mais fin août pour les premières livraisons et mi-septembre pour la deuxième vague. Une des raisons vient de la résistance à l'eau : comme la Core Pebble 2 Duo intègre un haut-parleur (contrairement aux versions originales), c'est un peu plus compliqué de proposer une montre étanche.
