People who live in the urban neighbourhoods of the City of Saint John experience a constant disrespect and disregard for our daily lives. It's constant and it's systemic. Show me a candidate who understands this, agrees with this, and insists that they're not going to take it anymore. #peoplecity

DTIs forever Harbour bridge project and disrespect/disregard for people who rely on Harbour passage has had multi-generational impacts on our neighbourhood. #disrespect #mobility #fracturedCity #peoplecity

Love this! It doesn't take much money or infrastructure to make our streets much safer for people.

Needed:
1. Put people’s safety first.
2. Recognize drivers follow road design, not road signs.
3. Accept that faster traffic means less human activity in a neighbourhood.

Make Way for the ‘One-Minute City’ While the “15-minute city” model promotes neighborhood-level urban planning, Sweden is pursuing a hyper-local twist: a scheme to redesign every street in the nation.

Saint John is closer to a “one‑minute city” than we think. Union is waking up; Lansdowne already hums with daily life. The problem? We still design for cars, not people. Imagine if we flipped that script on a few key streets.

Hey, when every study tells you to do something people don't like, just study again. It's only safety, fairness, and access to daily life for some people. No big deal. #peoplecity

Prioritizing cars over people is brain dead stupid.

"Giving so much space to cars also precludes other businesses setting up in the immediate vicinity. The result is that most of the economic value of games is captured by the team, with local merchants getting less of a slice"

What fuel will ships burn as they move toward net zero? This is Part 3 of a short series on efforts to decarbonize the global shipping industry. Part 1 addressed international policy and politics, Part 2 efficiency measures. This part looks at alternative ...

Container traffic through #SaintJohn could hit 800K as ship activity ramps up in the centre of our city. With the shipping industry facing big fuel changes, it’s key that #netzero is treated as a real opportunity, not just by industry, but for clean air here in our #peoplecity. Here's what’s next...

With its high-speed train, China has achieved what seemed impossible: flying is not profitable on an 808-mile route. - Evidence Network With ultra-fast journeys, connected comfort and exemplary punctuality, the Chinese high-speed train is redefining travellers’ priorities, to the point of suffocating domestic air traffic between ... China’s high-speed rail shows trains beat planes for city-to-city trips under 1,300 km if service is fast, frequent, connected, and downtown-to-downtown.

Smaller cities mean better buses and regional rail—not bullet trains. A Canada wide strat for people centered transport is needed. #peoplecity

Saint John may some day soon need to do what Australia did during its Millennium Drought and plan for desalination from the Bay of Fundy, powered by renewables of course, to keep our water secure if/when dry conditions linger.

NB Power’s public review lands in Saint John Thursday, 11-1. The timing is tough for many, promo of it hard to find.

Decisions here impact our entire community’s energy future—this is the time to show up.

SJ has the lowest rates in Atlantic Canada. NB Power is a major part of that. #peoplecity

Paris makes streets for kids and neighbours; meanwhile, @govnb.bsky.social too often only sees infrastructure and budgets, not how people live.

Until the province has its own urban strategy, can it ever be a competent partner for cities? #peoplecity

"lower speed limits and smart design"

Hold on a second, drivers aren't responsible for either of those two things.

Before you blame users for how they use a road, take a close look at how the builders of the road designed it to operate. #safedesign #peoplecity

We drive Main Street a dozen times daily, and here's what drivers passing through don't want to hear: even with construction removing vehicle lanes for bikes/walking, we're not slowed down at all. Fewer lanes = better flow. We locals are living proof road diets work. #peoplecity #SaintJohn #sjnb

Streets for people, not just cars! 🚲

Saint John's Main Street redesign is exactly what our cities need - prioritizing people over traffic and connecting neighborhoods.

This is how you transform urban spaces for the better.

Our #PeopleCity is disappearing piece by piece. When heavy industry and residents collide, we all lose.

Heavy industry: 9% of tax revenue

Ten years ago, Simms factory (est. 1866) was demolished for a parking lot. Now we're facing the same threat to Wolastoq Park. Once these community spaces convert to industrial use, as Bryan notes, "it's gone forever." bit.ly/434FbL0

Agreed. We need industry development AND community wellbeing—that's why we elect a council. Their mandate is to ensure growth enhances life for residents, not compromises it. Industrial proposals should lead with how they make life better for people here. #sjcouncil for a #peoplecity

Street Safety: A parent + child cross 4 lanes, trusting only in brakes & alert drivers. This isn't about "bad drivers" - it's about failed design that prioritizes vehicle flow over human lives.
