A mass of glossy, green-leaved Periwinkle vines, growing both along the ground; over an old, disused pot and climbing a bit up the fence. There are small, light purple and white coloured periwinkle flowers dotting the whole mass of green, making it look a bit like “stars” in a green “sky.” Photo by my partner but edited/ “vignetted” by me to accentuate the colours. ~ tam
Closeup view of a few Periwinkles amidst those shiny green leaves* - the flowers have 5 petals which are white in the centre & around edges, but a pale, delicate purple contained in that “border” of white. At the flowers’ centres is a little hollow, which holds the yellow source of nectar - still within reach of bees or other pollinators to feed - much needed food for them early in the year. The vine is seen against a wooden fence. *The leaves look slightly less shiny in this picture: I think in part because it wasn’t taken in sunlight, like the next one. Photo by my partner.
Another closeup of Periwinkle flowers: showcasing one in particular, in sunlight, at the top. This flower has much more of that purple colour - a bit more vivid here than seen in other photos. It’s surrounded, again, by glossy, green leaves. Another periwinkle flower is further down, seen from a side view in the lower left. The whole vine is up against the golden brown, wooden fence which divides our garden from the neighbours’. Again, photo by my partner.
A (green) Sky Full of “Stars”: in this case, #periwinkles
These #flowers grow wild in the alley behind our houses. My partner coaxed some into our #garden where they’ve taken hold, spreading colourful beauty & feeding #bees & other forms of #wildlife But they do need watching or they’ll take over!😳😄
