On #ThisDayInHistory in 1977, archaeologist #ManolisAndronikos found the tomb of #PhilipII of #Makedon/#Macedonia. The tomb had not been plundered and, in addition to the king's remains, held fabulous treasures. Philip, father of #AlexanderTheGreat, had mostly unified Greece.
On #ThisDayInHistory in 1179, #PhilipAugustus (#PhilipII) was crowned king of #France. His long reign strengthened the monarchy, and humiliated England by taking much of its land in France (indirectly causing Magna Carta). He also let his nobles join the vile #AlbigensianCrusade.
