Book 30 for #piratereadingclub is ‘Flesh & Blood So Cheap: The Triangle Fire and Its Legacy’ by Albert Marrin.

146 people, mostly women, died in a fire which could have been avoided had the company put in fire prevention measures. The fire did lead to all sorts of safety measures & regulations.

Cycle of the Werewolf

Book 29 for #piratereadingclub is ‘Cycle of the Werewolf’ by Stephen King.

Small town has a series of gruesome murders on the nights of full moons. A boy discovers who the werewolf is and is the only one who can stop it.

As #PirateReadingClub comes to a close just want to say thank you to @piratereadingclub.bsky.social for coordinating such a fun reading event (& for keeping me motivated in one of my slower reading years). It's been awesome to see what everyone has been reading. 🏴‍☠️📚

Been on the tbr pile for ages, finally got around to it and it's a beautiful story. Pirate/magical fantasy sapphic romance, touches on a lot of issues of colonialism, race, gender. Overall beautiful story with great characters. Read by the sea if you can!

All Systems Red

Book 28 for #piratereadingclub is ‘All Systems Red’ by Martha Wells.

I saw the show before reading the book, and as much as I enjoyed the show, I think the book is better. SecUnit, Murderbot, has turned off its governor module, giving it power over itself to make decisions or follow orders.
