This is what I was talking about when I said earlier that Michele was on fire this evening. With thanks to Scott for posting this.

It must be written in their playbook - mention Trudeau in every interview. Time to turn the page.

Michele Cadario is on fire tonight on “Power & Politics” - very impassioned.

Go @emilienicolas.bsky.social calling out the hypocrisy of Poilievre wanting tax taken off gas and the high cost we face at the pumps at the moment - at the same time he wants to see a rail route project cancelled when travel by rail means less reliance on gas.

Listening to @flaviovolpe.bsky.social give an in depth interview explaining to viewers what it would mean to the auto industry if vehicles are brought into Canada as a kit to be built here is an excellent use of air time on “Power & Politics”. Things we need to understand.

Karina Roman hosting “Power & Politics” trying to push back on comments made by Conservative Transportation Critic Dan Albas who rudely interrupted her mid sentence. Waste of air time having him on.

Another night. Another muting of a “power” panel on “Power & Politics”.
Just really tired of hearing from the same voices, saying the same things, the same way, every week.
Fresh voices might offer new perspectives.
Just saying.

I’d classify David Cochrane as an investigative journalist and that’s a distinction that sets him apart.

Canadian legends.

David Suzuki reminiscing and lauding Stephen Lewis with love, humour and respect.

His conversation with Catherine Cullen on “Power & Politics” was a eulogy for a politician and activist - more than that - a friend.

I was wondering this morning when Catherine Cullen would be seated in David Cochrane’s chair on “Power & Politics” during his leave of absence.
Lo and behold, here she is.

Why does it feel like Kate Harrison is dominating the panel conversation tonight on “Power & Politics”? Maybe just my perception.

Listening to Avi Lewis speaking with Karina Roman on “Power & Politics” I’m not particularly impressed. Not that he cares I’m sure. But through the eyes (and ears) of a potential voter he comes across as a pompous git.

Karina Roman and not Tasker this week. #PnPCBC

Blunt. A serious question and a juvenile response.
DeLorey might be on the money here but it came off like he was trying to score points.

Kudos to all the NDP “Power & Politics” panelists who are on tonight discussing the convention - talking up the strengths of their party, the candidates, their hopes for the leadership vote & the future of the party - honestly - without blind loyalty, no blinkers on.

Good grief - what does this say - Fred DeLorey just said on “Power & Politics” he doesn’t remember the names of 2 of the candidates who are running for NDP leadership!? 🙄
Yes he’s a conservative but he’s a political panelist.
It’s Friday & I’m expecting too much.

Hosting is not Tasker’s forte - but I’ll say this for him - I’ve seen an improvement as the week has unfolded - with the odd clunker thrown in. And he does a better job than I could ever do 😉

“A bit of a coronation?”
Really J. P. Tasker you used that expression as you asked Avi Lewis if he expects to win the NDP leadership vote?
Off to a roaring start tonight.

Lack of depth definitely.
And sadly no one is asking for our input 😉

Asking Rob Ashton if he’ll work with the new NDP leader if it isn’t him - though Tasker was directly asking about working with Avi Lewis if elected - that’s a no win question to be asked.
To his credit Mr. Ashton answered graciously.

A world leader - Trump - speaking about another country - Iran -
they’ve been “beaten to sh*t” - in a segment shown while Katie Simpson was in discussion with J. P. Tasker on “Power & Politics”.
Blunt, boorish & belligerent. Exactly what we’ve come to expect from that man.

I’ve thought for months that the format of PnP has become stale & needs refreshing. David does a great job of orchestrating the parts to keep it moving but the battery is low. His leave has highlighted that for me. Without his energy the format “flaws” of PnP that I perceive are obvious.

It’s absolutely bizarre. Is there anyone who can make it make sense?
Maybe that interview with Richard Gere added an “entertainment” element 😉

Heather McPherson NDP leadership candidate on “PnP”avoided answering J.P. Tasker’s question - is she using surrogates to say negative things about Avi Lewis - and sadly Tasker let the question slide & didn’t push back to ask the question again.
One could read that as a “yes”.

Every time I see the clip of Doug Ford standing at a building site promoting the HST rebate on new homes I’m reminded of a Toronto commercial by a guy who would shout on camera that he’d buy back your gold, your jewelry and invite you to come on down to his store.

Great point by Jordan Leichnitz about QP being a performance with one liners and slogans so they can be cut and used as clips on social media.

Politics of the country as performance art. This is where we are.

Fascinating poll results Shachi Kurl of Angus Reid Institute is sharing on “PnP” - that 44% of past NDP voters don’t recognize the names of those running for leader.
If people don’t watch political programmes that doesn’t surprise me.
24% say the NDP is irrelevant.
No surprise.

One of these things is not like the others. 🤔
An odd combination in this category of nominations for the 2026 Canadian Screen Awards.
Political issues from around the world & Canada - mixed in with entertainment gossip, cooking & lifestyle.
Serious world news vs. fluff.
Good luck!
