A bottle of Poor Man’s Pappy. I’d like to compare it to actual Pappy Van Winkle 15-yr bourbon one day to see how close it is.

Since I’m too cheap to overpay for an *actual* bottle of #PappyVanWinkle, tonight I’m sipping on a wheated bourbon dubbed Poor Man’s Pappy, which is a mix 40% Weller 12-yr and 60% Weller Antique 107.

I even had a vinyl label made up for the bottle. It’s a solid mix

Getting ready to mix the next batch of Poor Man’d Pappy bourbon.

I transferred the remaining Poor Man’s Pappy to a 375ml bottle, and mixed the new batch in a 1-liter Buffalo Trace bottle. The larger Buffalo Trace bottle gives some room to agitate and add air to the mix.

I was starting to run low on my Poor Man’s Pappy bourbon mix, so I started a new batch today.

The recipe for PMP is 40% Weller 12-year and 60% Weller Antique 107, then let it rest for a month. I use a 1-liter Buffalo Trace bottle with a custom vinyl sticker.

A bottle of Poor Man’s Pappy - 60% Weller Antique 107 plus 40% Weller 12-Year bourbons.

For tonight’s pour, I’m breaking out the bottle of Poor Man’s Pappy that I mixed up in December.

It a mix of 60% Weller Antique 107 and 40% Weller 12-Year.

It’s got a nice, oakey nose and soft wheated bourbon flavor.

One day, I’ll have to try the real thing.

A home-made mix bottle of bourbons called Poor Man’s Pappy.

In December, I put together a mix of bourbons called Poor Man’s Pappy. The recipe calls for 60% Weller Antique 107 and 40% Weller 12-yr.

It has been resting to blend the flavors, and I’m planning to sample some of it soon.

Anyone else ever tried this recipe?

Bottles of Weller Antique 107, Poor Man's Pappy, and Weller 12-year.

Since I was able to score several bottles of Weller Antique 107 last week, and already have Weller 12-yr in the house, I mixed up a batch of Poor Man's Pappy. I've read that you need to let this rest and merge their flavors, so I'll look at trying this in January sometime.
