This photo captures a charming street scene in Aveiro, Portugal (often called the "Venice of Portugal").

Foreground: The cobblestone street stretches ahead, patterned with dark stone lines guiding the eye toward the center. On the right, a wooden stand with a handwritten sign ("Manta Multiusos") and a few bright orange plastic items adds a touch of daily life and authenticity.

People: Two older women stand in the middle of the street, leaning slightly toward each other in conversation — a candid, human moment that grounds the scene in warmth and community.

Architecture: The pastel-colored buildings on either side showcase Portugal’s iconic style: on the left, a façade covered with traditional blue azulejos tiles, and across the way, a striking blue-and-white tiled building with a red roof draws focus. Its windows and balcony railings highlight classic Portuguese design.

Atmosphere: The hanging lanterns, outdoor café seating, and gentle light filtering through create a cozy, lived-in vibe. The blue sky peeks through above the rooftops, balancing the narrow intimacy of the alley with an airy openness.

Overall, it’s a quintessential Aveiro moment — blending local life, tiled façades, and small-town charm into a scene that feels both timeless and deeply Portuguese.

This photo showcases the vibrant and eclectic architecture of the Pena Palace in Sintra, Portugal. The scene captures the palace's striking red and yellow walls with their whimsical mix of Gothic, Renaissance, and Moorish influences. The foreground features a mustard-yellow courtyard bordered by ornate arches and stone balustrades, with a staircase leading up to the main building. A tall red clock tower with decorative battlements rises dramatically above the structure, alongside a white-and-black striped spire. Beyond the palace, the view stretches out to a lush, green valley dotted with small towns and farmland, under a partly cloudy sky that fades to a soft blue at the horizon. The composition combines historical grandeur with sweeping natural vistas.

Ok, so you are ready to snap your fingers like Thanos and make people vanish? I agree, when visiting beautiful tourist spots, it is annoying AF when there are too many people in the way of your "perfect photo".

So how did I take this photo without anyone in it? Simple. Set your camera on a tripod or rest the camera on something solid so you can keep the frame steady.
I took at least ten photos of this site, usually ten seconds apart to allow the tourists to move around. If I noticed someone standing still for too long, I would wait until I saw them move and create an open space where they were standing.
Once I returned home, I opened Photoshop and made sure to FILE> SCRIPTS> LOAD FILES INTO STACK. Yes, you want Photoshop to try to align the images for you.
Photoshop will load the images one layer at a time on top of each other. Make sure each layer has a MASK and you have selected the PAINT icon. Your masks should all be white and your paintbrush color is black.
Now comes the fun part. Starting with the TOP LAYER's MASK, use your paintbrush to color over a tourist you wish to remove. Do not paint on the image itself, only on the mask. If you are lucky, painting over the tourist will reveal an open space in the layer below. If not, paint over the new tourist on the next layer's mask below. Do this until you have only open space.
If you plan this correctly (or are lucky), you will end up with an image that has no tourists in the image.
I have another example of this I will share later.

This photograph is a stunning long-exposure nighttime shot featuring a woman in a flowing white gown standing near the edge of a body of water. She’s holding a light-painted Portuguese flag, which appears to be sweeping dramatically through the air in a vibrant arc of red and green light. The flag’s motion creates a surreal, ribbon-like trail that curves behind and around her, glowing brightly against the darkened background of trees and a bridge.

The water below reflects the light trail beautifully, doubling the visual impact and adding depth to the scene. The contrast between the vivid light and the shadowy surroundings gives the image a magical, dreamlike quality. The photo is artistically composed with strong symmetry, and it captures both national pride and artistic elegance in a unique and visually captivating way.
