Last week, @eschultheis.bsky.social, presented alongside Kathryn Docherty + 3 MiSTRIPS farmers to share best practices + current research on #prairiestrips. The event was hosted by the Ottawa County Conservation District + attended by over 200 farmers + others in ag.

Today at Underground Innovations, farmer Mike Bronkema shares his experience with regenerative ag practices, including #prairiestrips to increase biodiversity & improve soil health. Since diversifying his system, he has observed improved soils, reduction in crop diseases, & more beneficial insects.

Here's a cool sequence of shots from one of our partner's full prairie restoration sites. Without wolves, cougars, and bears across much of the Midwest, coyotes stand as the apex predator. How coyotes use #prairiestrips may affect their #habitat value for other species. #cameratrap

Our agricultural system has to change (become less dependent on pesticides toxic to insects), and overwintering grounds need to be better protected. The former seems unlikely. If rules are proposed, we'll see if they sidestep interests of industrial ag. #Prairiestrips awash in toxins won't fix it.
