and those monologues reframed the "central" story's parts, so the whole of it ended up feeling kind of fragmented and messy... but in a good way? like. even if some tired tropes didn't get deconstructed, they got such personal queer readings! the center cannot hold - and it shouldn't. #PrinceFaggot

and as the tropes were hit with no subtlety, since i was used to that frame around that genre, i - accepted it. EXCEPT i shouldn't have! because the "central" narrative kept getting interspersed with these terrific, powerful monologues by cast members - fictional but very personal #PrinceFaggot

...but the prince's love story, while at times campy & delightful & charged & clever, ultimately felt - flat? like, there was drama and kink and humor and rainy sweeping encounters and explicit sex, and - it was familiar. from royal romances to gay porn to some oft-perused ao3 tags. #PrinceFaggot

A solid performance at #studioseaview of #princefaggot. Far more than I expected with a versatile cast shifting between roles and time periods. Had no expectations, left able to recommend it. With friend left and my guy right.

Examining the use and beauty of BDSM. What is it to be royalty in both a marginalized and colonialist sense? Hot nude men fucking. It’s got it all (suddenly I’m Stefan 🤣) It’s a play that’s both touching and salacious. Extravagant but grounded. Ugh I really liked it okay. Very nice to be in an audience of nothing but gay men and cool people. I can’t quite imagine we’re getting the full force of Prince Faggot in Rapture but I’m willing to bet it’s gonna be the most extreme art Kit has ever made, very graphic art at that… In addition to plenty of full live nudity and sex we’ve got scenes of BDSM including shibari, piss play, and pup play. Oh and a wonderful monologue about fisting! This is so getting marked as sexual content even though it’s not 😅 One last thing fuck respectfully politics
My mind is still buzzing over this play so read the alt text if you want more rambling and spoilery talk. I loved Prince Faggot and I’m so excited to see more from Jordan Tannahill. I have a feeling we’re going to see a whole new side of Kit Connor with Rapture…
