The embittered Willie Rennie seems to think we all have to be there in person to be interested in the 🏴 #ProgrammeForGovernment #ScottishIndependence
White text quote against a purple background reads: “For the Programme to succeed, the Scottish Government will need a strong and resilient third sector. We are pleased that there has been progress and recognise that the Fairer Funding pilot is a positive first step. We need to build on that as quickly as possible to ensure that the third sector has the security it needs to be able to invest in our babies, children, young people and families in the right way at the right time and in a way that has the necessary long-term impact.” - Dr Judith Turbyne, Chief Executive, Children in Scotland
Yesterday, the Scottish Government set out its #ProgrammeforGovernment 2025-26.

"In January we had a storm which closed schools – that’s never happened in my lifetime. Extreme weather affected children’s education, and parents’ jobs.
@johnswinney.bsky.social - your #programmeforgovernment must be more ambitious, because a better climate means better prospects for everyone.
#ProgrammeForGovernment; hot take re public transport bits.
It all rather confirms Scotland's political class & commentariat can't think beyond propping up fares. Fine, but where's the understanding & ambition to invest, to grow public transport usage for all the well-known reasons?

OPFS response to Scottish Government Programme for Government 2025/26
📢 OPFS welcomes the continued commitment to tackling child poverty in today’s #ProgrammeForGovernment.
But urgent action is still needed.

It is deeply concerning to see once again no mention of the Wellbeing Economy in the Programme for Government. We need to move away from short term thinking and sticking plaster solutions. We need an economy that will improve the wellbeing of people in Scotland, now and in the future.
Today's #ProgrammeForGovernment falls short of what we need to create a #WellbeingEconomy in Scotland where everyone can thrive.

We cannot forget that underpinning all the ambitions in today's #Scotland #ProgrammeForGovernment is a healthy, functioning natural environment. Great to see commitments on #deer & #naturerestoration. The potential for progress is immense...
Good to see the return ticket for peak rail fares in Scotland being cancelled. @ScotGovFM says they'll be scrapped "for good".
But, overall, this #PFG feels like treading water with 12 months to go of this Parliament.
@OxfamScotland's key takeaways 👇
#ProgrammeforGovernment
A view of the Scottish Parliament’s debating chamber. It’s a modern space with a steel and oak roof structure and large glass windows.
Nature’s warning signs are flashing red. Our leaders must treat the climate crisis as the emergency that it is. 🚨
But today’s #PfG from Scot Gov lacks the level of detail and ambition required to tackle climate change and restore nature. 🌍

Illustration of a shopping basket full of food. A quote from Arthur in Glasgow reads: By the time I've paid my rent and bills, there's nothing left. There have been times when I just go hungry for days, with not even any milk or tea bags in my kitchen.
Today’s #ProgrammeForGovernment in Scotland announced no new support for older people in poverty.
With 156,000 older people across Scotland currently living in poverty, the need for a clear strategy to address this is more urgent that ever.

This Programme for Government is too quiet on inequality, too soft on polluters and too slow on change: Scottish Ministers are once again treading water while the storms of poverty, inequality and the climate crisis rage." - Jamie Livingstone, Head of Oxfam Scotland
Our verdict on the #ProgrammeforGovernment ?
We need much bolder action, backed by fair taxation. Scottish Ministers must stop dithering and start delivering.
