How did the last Conference vote go on
#ProportionalRepresentation?
But of course that assumes that Labour is a Democratic Party with an agenda set by its members and representatives that carry out that agenda to the best of their ability!!!
Ignoring that St George was a foreigner who is patron saint of other countries and definitely NOT English, this racist behaviour sadly symbolises the fact that our democracy, and First Past The Post in particular, are broken

Avi Lewis' NDP Opens Up A New Front For Canada
Avi Lewis’ energy policies may not even be controversial as they are just a response to the geopolitical maneuvers that have cost countless lives across the world for oil.
Canada’s future therefore depends on all of us - not just working together […]
Had a read over of the comments from my recent appearance on @carastern show.
This one is interesting, you actually find the opposite with the LLMs. They’ll give you the links to research for the points supporting #ProportionalRepresentation and just […]

@prorepcoalition has been a partner of Ca Green since ints inceptin, because they are fighting for a multi-party #Democracy in #California and so are we.
We don't ALL have to be GREENS but we DO all have to be represented.

This is really something: a Labour-controlled Council backing a LibDem motion to ditch First Past The Post, and bring in Proportional Representation! Opposing official Lab policy? Only 2 Conservative Councillors voting against? #PRnow #ProportionalRepresentation www.thestar.co.uk/community/yo...
Tony McQuail speaking to a resolution about proportional representation.
Huge thank-you to @tonymcquailndp.bsky.social for making #ProportionalRepresentation a major issue in the @ndp.ca leadership race and by helping to pass an important resolution about PR at Convention. You’ve done a great service to Canada. Merci beaucoup!!

Interesting take on the similarities between the USA and Britain and their causal relationship to winner takes all politics makevotesmatter.org.uk/grassroots-c... #proportionalRepresentation #ukPolitics #FPTP
When is the UK government going to change the voting system?
#electoralReform
#proportionalRepresentation
It's another argument for #electoralreform. With #proportionalrepresentation, you do away with #tacticalvoting (especially if you adopt the Single Transferable Vote) because you then get more or less the same #govt each time, a continuity that encourages #politicians to take a longer view.

Great job @paige and @carastern for dropping this firestorm of political wisdom today. I really believe that the defining political struggle of our age is to get people to connect our electoral system with the issues we care about. Whether it’s #health, #housing #Climate #transit you name it […]
I think AV's requirement of majority support rewards better behavior from candidates. It also helps minor parties grow by better reflecting their support and allowing them to endorse a major party in exchange for policy concessions.
You'll need them to be strong to get #ProportionalRepresentation.
The "checks" and "balances" weren't designed for a two-party system where the executive branch could stack the Supreme Court and hold Congress hostage by threatening to primary out dissenters.
A multi-party system via #ProportionalRepresentation better achieves their vision.
Un-F*ck the System where the N is a diagram of a red and blue two-party legislature, and the (censored) U is an upside-down diagram of a multi-party legislature. The background shows a political protest. ProRep Coalition.
Pardon our language, but seriously... this political system is totally f*cked, and it's time we unf*ck it.

#ProportionalRepresentation is indeed a game changer.
We could always have #ProportionalRepresentation
I voted Labour the last 2 times. I’m a paid up LibDem. But I’m tired of Labour taking my vote for granted. So I won’t do it again.
Labour could deliver Reform with a huge majority by not giving us #PR
It’s on Labour & their supporters head.
Here's a great explainer from our friends at More Equitable Democracy, Protect Democracy, and the Multiracial Democracy Project about proportional representation and building a more inclusive democracy for everyone.

What is proportional representation, & how does it give every voter a voice in our democracy?
@protectdemocracy.org, @equitabledemocracy.bsky.social, & @gwlaw.bsky.social's Multiracial Democracy Project explain how #ProportionalRepresentation works & how it would improve our elections.⬇️
Fantastic explanation of how our election system takes power away from communities of color and other groups. I hope the resistance/indivisible movement and the broader civil rights movement in the U.S. will take a serious look at #proportionalRepresentation to build a real representative democracy.
Afraid of politicians choosing dominance over fairness? Check out #ProportionalRepresentation.

"Now we need #ProportionalRepresentation and to #RejoinEU"
Regardless of what anyone thinks of this guy, this is pretty huge for #UK politics in general.
The country has moved away from the Two-party politics system with just Tories and Labour.
Now we need #ProportionalRepresentation and to #RejoinEU

It isn’t just the Green Party. A loose #ProgressiveAlliance means whichever party is strongest in any given constituency can win by uniting, not dividing, our voters. Until we get the ideal of #ProportionalRepresentation, this works.
I agree.
The first question I asked newly elected Montreal mayor Soraya Martinez Ferrada during the first #PublicQuestionsPeriod after she was elected in November 2025, was if she & #EnsembleMontréal would implement ranked ballot #ProportionalRepresentation for the next municipal election.
#PolMTL
Government response 'we're content with the voting system used in general elections'. This is shockingly complacent given the shortcomings of First Past The Post voting in a multiparty country. #ProportionalRepresentation
#PR #ProportionalRepresentation #cdnpoli PR would make cooperation the norm and boost national unity. It would end strategic voting so our votes would represent what we actually want for our country.
It is frustrating every single time that I see the popular votes versus seats won in Canadian elections.
Especially when you have a party like the Bloc Quebécois who run only in Québec, pull 1.2 million votes in that province, and receive 22 seats in the House, yet the NDP pulls 1.2 million […]
It's time we catch up with the rest of the modern world and switch to #ProportionalRepresentation.
